The Jungle Set, released in July, 1999 , Jungle was the second set to come out; it comes after the Base Set. This set had only 64 cards. Its symbol is the rafflesia flower. Definition, rafflesia, any of a genus (Rafflesia) of parasitic plants native to the rain forests of the Malay peninsula, Sumatra, Borneo, and the Philippines. The plants have no roots, stems, or leaves, consisting of thread like growths on the tissues of the vine that hosts them. They produce large buds that may take 10 months to open into huge five-petaled flowers, which in the largest species (Rafflesia arnoldii) measure a yard (1 m) or so across. The flowers of most species have the distinctive odor of rotting flesh. The vile smell that the flower gives off attracts insects such as carrion flies, which transport pollen. All species are endangered or threatened.

It was the first set in which Wizards of the Coast made an identical "Rare" group of cards to the "Holographic Rare" group, something not practiced in the Japanese version. Though the Japanese version also possessed "Rare" and "Holographic Rare" segments, each rarity class contained different cards. This practice would continue until Nintendo bought back the rights to the Pokemon Trading Card Game.
